If you’re tossing around the idea of attending the 2018 AA-ISP Leadership Summit, or are already registered and eagerly awaiting the conference, you’ll want to be sure you get the most out of your three days in Chicago. The American Association of Inside Sales Professionals (AA-ISP) is dedicated exclusively to advancing inside sales professionals, including sales managers, sales directors, sales operations, business development directors, chief revenue officers, sales consultants and other sales leadership and supporting roles.
2018 marks the tenth anniversary of the world’s largest gathering of inside sales leaders, and like in years past, attendees are sure to walk away with plenty of tactical knowledge they can bring back to their teams. Taking place at the Sheraton Grand in downtown Chicago, the Leadership Summit is a three-day learning, sharing and networking event built with sales success in mind. So how do you plan the perfect experience? Structure your agenda using the following tips:
Attend the Pre-Event Workshops
Though the summit doesn’t officially kick-off until 1 p.m. on April 3, attendees can choose to sign up for one of two pre-event workshops taking place at 9 a.m. These small-group sessions will enhance your experience, with an intimate environment where you can learn practical skills from digital sales experts. Here’s a summit hack: if you can’t attend the full conference, you can register just for the pre-event workshop!
The first workshop is led by Amanda Hammett, the Millennial Translator®. Her session, Millennials: How to Move from Pulling Your Hair Out to Increased Profitability, breaks down her philosophy on how to work with the generation that will soon be leading corporate America. Participants will gain practical and actionable items they can implement with their teams immediately.
The other optional workshop is led by “Antarctic Mike” Pierce, titled Great Leaders…Great Teams…Great Performers. Mike’s session will emphasize why sales reps respond and perform better when they are led by great leaders rather than managers. The workshop will dig deep into five key areas every leader needs to create and sustain in order to build an environment and culture of success and achievement.
Rise Early for the Birds-of-a-Feather Breakfast Roundtables
Everyone knows the old saying, “the early bird gets the worm.” At the AA-ISP Leadership Summit, this is true in spades. By arriving early for the Birds-of-a-Feather roundtable sessions, you’ll not only enjoy a breakfast to fuel full day of learning and training, but you’ll also get the chance to interact with other attendees in a small group setting. The roundtables will help to connect you to like-minded individuals on common topics of interest. You’ll jumpstart your day with intelligent discussions while networking at the same time! You can also contact AA-ISP prior to the conference to express interest in leading one of the roundtable discussions.
Personalize Your Experience at Breakout Sessions
On days two and three of the conference, you’ll have the opportunity to attend both large group learning sessions in the Sheraton Ballroom as well as small workgroups and breakout sessions. The large group sessions were carefully curated to address the common challenges and issues facing all sales leaders in attendance. The small group breakout sessions then offer attendees the chance to personalize their learning path over the course of the summit.
Beginning on day two after lunch and taking place throughout the entire final day of the summit, attendees will have 48 different breakout sessions to choose from to create a personalized learning experience. Octiv CEO David Kerr will lead his own breakout session on day two (April 4) at 2:30 p.m. in Superior B. The Evolution of the Buyer’s Journey: Tactics for Today’s Modern Sales Leader will cover the seller’s burden and actionable items attendees can implement to revolutionize their organization’s workflows to accelerate deal velocity.
David’s extensive background in executive management, business development, sales and marketing will help him apply practical and relevant advice to the content in his session. David will discuss:
- The seller’s burden, and how it has changed to adapt to the modern buyer
- How sales leaders can relieve the burden through training, efficient tech stacks and other tactics to drive better enablement
- The technologies Octiv has used to build a more efficient sales team and process
- How real sales teams are using Octiv and other sales technology and tools to battle this seller’s burden concept
Network and Learn at the Expo Happy Hour
If you’ve ever attended a conference, you know the deal about happy hour. The Leadership Summit happy hour takes place on the first night from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and gives attendees the chance to catch up with acquaintances, make new connections and explore the Solution Provider Expo in a relaxed atmosphere.
You and your new (and old) connections can meet leading sales service providers at the Solution Expo to learn first-hand about their products and services and how they can help your organizations improve sales performance and effectiveness.
